If you have a logo for your service you will want to draw from the same color choices you used for your logo or possibly a slight variation of those colors so that it will pop out on the screen. Choosing a color palette is critical, poor color choices have actually caused people to steer away from a site. The colors need to be pleasing to the eye and should draw people in. Typically very harsh colors are not the best choice for sites.

Also don’t be too afraid to interject a little bit of your own personality you do want to stand out from the crowd so that you are unique. Of course you probably don’t want to go toocrazy but then hey if you want to draw a crazy crowd then maybe you do. One thing to consider is hiring a good designer that knows the color wheel. If they are any good they will know right away which colors do not go together.

There may be some new trends that you would want to jump on as well. You certainly need to stand out from the pack, everyone is fighting to do just that. You should also consider if people will be staring at your site for possibly hours because you'll want colors that are easy and relaxing on the eyes. Of course black and white are the most popular backgrounds and are generally a great place to start and then decorate from there!
